Christian Activist: Parents Would Rather Their Kids Be Addicted to Drugs Than Be Gay

January 28, 2016

“Coach” Dave Daubenmire is a speaker whose ministry focuses on firing up Christians to win the "culture wars" through heavy use of sports metaphors. His website explains that, after winning a case against the “ACLU in the late 1990’s for mixing prayer with his coaching,”
Coach heard the call to move out of coaching a high school team, to the job of coaching God’s team. PASS THE SALT was formed to encourage the Body of Christ to step into the cultural war. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood…” PASS THE SALT is convinced that God has given the Body a window of opportunity to take our culture back.
When the coach isn't worried about staged terror attacks designed to take away Americans' guns; when he's not blaming victims of anti-abortion violence for being attacked; when he's not yearning for “some militant, violent, Christian Donald Trumps” on the political right; he's got plenty to say about gay people.Daubenmire

A Christian Bully is Surprised Nobody Wants To “Debate” Him, So Let Me Explain

January 27, 2016

Like many kids who went through grade school, I had a bully. This person followed me around, called me names, and tormented me in every class we shared. Now, this was back when schools just blithely accepted bullying as a part of the educational process, so I really had just two options for dealing with my tormentor:1) I could politely ask him to stop calling me "faggot."2) I could ignore them.Out of misplaced trust and youthful naiveté, I chose the first option. Guess how that turned out?shutterstock_64076404

Russian Religious Leader: ISIS is Product of “Godless, Secular” State and Gay Pride Parades

January 19, 2016

One of my all-time favorite segments from The Daily Show was the episode in which Jon Stewart examined the bizarre love-hate relationship that American conservatives seem to have with Vladimir Putin. It was hilarious, particularly when juxtaposed with conservatives' hate-hate relationship with their idea of the weak, mom-jeans-wearing tyrant dictator King Obama. But there's more to Putin than a quick-acting, horse-riding, bear-wrestling, non-Mom-jeans-wearing President. And it's the sort of stuff Republican dreams are made of.Dreams, and religious-political fantasies. You see, like so many conservative religious leaders in America, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill knows who to blame for things like the rise of ISIS: religious extremism, he says, is a result of secularism. And gay people.shutterstock_147594971
