Franklin Graham: Letting Gay People Attend Church Aids the “Enemy” Who Wants to “Devour This Nation”

“We have allowed the Enemy to come into our churches,” Graham said. “I was talking to some Christians and they were talking about how they invited these gay children to come into their home and to come into the church and that they were wanting to influence them. And I thought to myself, they’re not going to influence those kids; those kids are going to influence those parent’s children.”

“What happens is we think we can fight by smiling and being real nice and loving,” he continued. “We have to understand who the Enemy is and what he wants to do. He wants to devour our homes. He wants to devour this nation and we have to be so careful who we let our kids hang out with. We have to be so careful who we let into the churches. You have immoral people who get into the churches and it begins to effect the others in the church and it is dangerous.”

It’s like when Jesus said of the Good Samaritan, “Screw him. What does he bring to the table, anyway?”

Besides calling gay people the “Enemy,” Graham does what he does best: He lied about a topic he knows nothing about. For him, the Gay Agenda involves taking over your home, the nation, and churches everywhere. Which is personally shocking since gay people have never shown me their blueprints for any of this.

It’s telling that he lashed out against gay people — not criminals, divorced people, women who had abortions, and everyone else Christians love to judge — because that’s how his selective Christian bigotry works.

I can’t believe I’m the one who needs to say this, but if Graham doesn’t want “sinners” entering the church, then those churches will empty out very quickly.

Dobson, never one to let an idiotic thought remain in his head, chimed in by explaining to the audience what “LGBT” meant:

“You know what the ‘B’ stand for? Bisexual. That’s orgies! That is lots of sex with lots of people!”

That’s… not even close. But you can’t expect honesty from Christians like him. He lives in a bubble where LGBT is a curse word and “transgender” means guys who want to dress like girls so they can sneak a peek in the shower.

It’s ignorance masquerading as fact. Par for the course for the Religious Right.

For Certain Christians, Lying for Jesus is Justified in the Abortion Wars

Leviticus 19:11 makes clear: "Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another."There's quite a bit of the Bible that conservative Christian activists tend to leave out, but Biblical prohibitions against lying are routinely given short shrift by those intent on seeing God's will done on Earth. We don't have to look far for examples of it -- from Christians arguing that LGBT people are predators to politicians pretending that being gay is a choice, these lies are common. The Washington Post has a good look at another popular outlet for faith-based lying: the abortion debate, and the notoriously deceptive idea of "crisis pregnancy centers."
