The more heroes you create, the more you’re going to be disappointed when you realize they’re not perfect. That rule applies to any group, though conservatives tend to lionize people who were pretty horrible to begin with: the intolerant ones, the racists, the ones who think your marriage has to look exactly like theirs. When they fall, they fall for a long time.
